Whats the magic number?

Background story... apparently "older guys" are loving me right about now. I went out last weekend and a few "grizzly bears" (the male equivilant to cougars so i've been told) hit on me... and I may or may not have given my number to one of them... ok maybe two of them.

Anyhoo... the next day I posted the inevitable question on my twitter.

How old is too old?

I am 26. How old is too old for me to date before its really creepy and people would probably stare?

Some of the responses I got are as follows:

sarah_anne_86 @whoismich I would say 39 should be the limit for a 26 year old. That was just my gut number though.

eJ24 @whoismich 48

katyness519 @whoismich since you are in your 20's i'd say no more than 10 years difference

dutchbeingme @whoismich hmmm... tricky question, but I've always been told current age x 2 minus 7 years. For you - 45

Which had a great reaction from Leah...

leahblonde @dutchbeingme I could NEVER IMAGINE @whoismich dating somebody who i 45! That's almost FIFTY! I think 35ish ain't so bad...

So... what do you think is too old?

Ps - I have some great follow up blog posts regarding both "grizzly's".... seriously the dating world for me is oh-so entertaining!

I am a fan of older man, I've dated a guy 20 years older than me and had no problems.

I'm sticking with my gut! I think 35 is the max. Maybe, maybe 38. But 40? I don't think so ...

So at 32 you are saying I still got a shot

Brian - absolutely!

I would say younger then 40. You are young enough to date for a while and still have kids. And they have their stuff together enough not to screw you over.

I say who cares about age, it's all about how they treat you

It's tough to say. I think it depends on the people. I mean Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr are 45 and given the chance, I would jump them in a heartbeat. But since we're talking about "real life" I think it just depends on you. How does this person treat you and make you feel? And I think that's all that really matters in the end!!! I don't think you should have to put an age limit on it...but don't go Anna Nicole on me alright!!!

Eh, I don't think you can put a number on it... I guess 40 or so would be my cap, personally, and I'm 26 too. But they'd have to be a very Clooney 40. ;-)

I am not sure how I ran into your blog, but I think you are great!

I think that as long as they aren't older than your dad, and you aren't grossed out by them...them you shouldn't put a limit on it! I went out with someone the other day that was just a couple years younger than my dad, but he looked about 10 years younger and we had a blast!!!

Good Luck!

I once dated someone who was 18 years older than me... it was... creepy.

But currently I'm 25 and BF JUST turned 35. We are technically 9.5 years apart, but you would never think. Guys are less mature :P

If you go too old then you have to think about cleaning their dentures and who-knows-what-else in much quicker time.
I say 33. At 35 if a man doesn't have a kid, he'll sperminate you on the third date. Just sayin'

this topic comes up between my friends and i all the time... and im going to admit that i would go as old as steve martin. i dont know how old he is, but im going to go with 60? and i would go there hahah...
but in reality, if the guy was not steve martin and just a random 60 year old im not so sure... maybe tops mid 40s?

i think as long as they are younger than your parents.. then its okay :)
